Re: Ch. 2 - The Secret of Gabriel Syme

Loved this chapter! I wondered why Syme was so cool. He didn't seem to be upset or in fear. I wonder how wise it was to reveal who he was before he got out of that creepy place. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the book. I don't really want to read ahead because it's more enjoyable ...

Re: Ch. 1 - The Two Poets of Saffron Park

I don't have much to say about the first chapter. I do disagree with both "poets". Does a tree's beauty or naturalness necessarily mean that it was due to anarchy and would a lamp have more "poetic" beauty if it were lit by a tree. I think the silliness of the argument is meant t...

Re: "The Man Who Was Thursday" is 100% FREE to read!

I decided to read a little bit about the author. I always like get an idea about what the author is about. I found him to be very interesting and I had to chuckle about his getting lost. Something I do often. However, apparently he had a condition that resulted in this tendency. http://en.wiki...

Re: Moire Firinne

I haven't found too many stand alone fantasy books. Elantris by Brandon Sanderson was very enjoyable. It was a quick easy read and satisfying. I don't mind a trilogy as long as it stays just that. For some reason a writer often will not be able to stop at three. Christopher Paolini would have been b...

I wish you hadn't said that. It makes me wonder if it's worth reading if I'm going to walk away depressed or wanting to throw the book at the wall in frustration. Which leads me to another issue, I wouldn't want to criticize a forum member too much. :|

Re: What book of fiction should we discuss during February and March?

Well it is about rabbits if that's all you see or get from the story. It certainly is nothing like the Hobbit. You can read it and think it's nothing but about rabbits or you can see the deeper meaning. I saw the underlying story when I first read it. I liked the way the author took a journey of rab...

Re: What book of fiction should we discuss during February and March?

I've read that book. Recently I was thinking I should read it again. It was a long time ago and I do remember really liking it. I don't know about you all, but I'm reading WATERSHIP DOWN. http://www.amazon.com/Watership-Scribner-Classics-Richard-Adams/dp/1442444053/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&...

Moire Firinne

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group. I hope I like it. I was looking for book discussions but I'm not sure I would be able to stick to a time line. I thought this forum might be better for me as I can comment on books I've read and not worry if I've read the chapters assigned. I love fantasy! I'm curr...
