Will you attend the Professor Dawkins chat?

Unread post

The chat with Professor Richard Dawkins is scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2003 at 11:00am eastern. I would like to get a rough idea of how many we can expect to attend the chat session. Our chat room holds a total of 25 people and no more. Here is the situation. Active members are naturally going to get a priority position in this special chat session. If you have participated in the Thursday night chats and on the message boards you will be allowed in the chat room. I am also hoping that everyone that seeks admitance to this chat session will have read all or most of "Unweaving the Rainbow." We will be there to discuss that book, and not just to chat with Professor Dawkins. The chat session will probably not exceed 1-hr. This means we need to all be courteous and not monopolize the time. Enjoy this casual chat and take it for what it is. We are not having a debate with Professor Dawkins or trying to ask him questions that clearly were answered in his book. You are expected to have read the book.If you do NOT plan to attend the chat ignore this poll. This is for those members that do plan to be there. I am trying to get an idea of how many we can expect. PLEASE... Make a post in this thread after you have voted so I know the names of those that plan to attend. The actual poll is simply a graphical representation of the data. I really would like to know who is attending, not just how many. All you need to do is make a quick post and tell me your vote - #1 or #2.#1 means you will do everything you can to be there. It doesn't mean you have magic powers of predicting the future. None of us will be there if we have an emergancy. I'm just looking for an honest answer with everything you know now. Results (total votes = 14):(#1) Yes, I will be there!&nbsp13 / 92.9%&nbsp (#2) I'm not sure, but I think I will be there.&nbsp1 / 7.1%&nbsp  "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always want to be."

I took off work especially to be there! So, of course, I voted for number one! Ahh, too many exclamation points--it's blinding! Edited by: curttheprophet at: 6/22/03 12:07 am

Naturally, I plan to be there and Professor Dawkins will be present. That is 4 of the 25 slots.Chris "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always want to be."

I haven't voted, since I don't qualify.I would come along if I thought I'd get in!Roger JonesPS I don't think Europeans should be disqualified fornon-attendence at regular chats since there are noneat euro=friendly times. However, even with this concession I wouldn't qualify.

It is a combination of mental operations that has become increasingly the habit of educated peoples, a culture of illuminations hit upon by a fortunate turn of history that yielded the most effective way of learning about the real world ever conceived. I certainly plan to be in the chat. However, I have had problems lately joining the chats.

WilliamTha problem seems to have been resolved. And it wasn't just you, as people system-wide complained of the same issue.JeremyThat was hilarious!
