Hitler's American Friends: The Third Reich's Supporters in the United States by Bradley Hart
This book is about active supporters of Hitler in the U.S. during WWII. You may have heard of Father Coughlin, the extremely popular Catholic priest who broadcast anti-semitic propaganda over national radio programs. There were also "America First" with Charles Lindbergh, William Pelley and the Silver Shirt Legion, the Christian Front, and even members of the Senate spreading Nazi propaganda. Some of them wanted to replace our constitutional government with a Führer.
I haven't read this book, but I believe it covers ground similar to the podcast Ultra by Rachael Maddow. If you listen to all six episodes, you may feel compelled to pour lighter fluid in your hair, ignite it, and run around waving your arms and screaming incoherently. American history is not for cowards.

With my interest in climate change, the most interesting recent major book is the collection of essays introduced by Greta Thunberg - The Climate Book. I have a copy but have not read it yet.
https://www.amazon.com/Climate-Book-Fac ... 0593492307?
We still have time to change the world. From climate activist Greta Thunberg, comes the essential handbook for making it happen.
You might think it's an impossible task: secure a safe future for life on Earth, at a scale and speed never seen, against all the odds. There is hope - but only if we listen to the science before it's too late.
In The Climate Book, Greta Thunberg has gathered the wisdom of over one hundred experts - geophysicists, oceanographers and meteorologists; engineers, economists and mathematicians; historians, philosophers and indigenous leaders - to equip us all with the knowledge we need to combat climate disaster. Throughout, illuminating and often shocking grayscale charts, graphs, diagrams, photographs, and illustrations underscore their research and their arguments. Alongside them, she shares her own stories of demonstrating and uncovering greenwashing around the world, revealing how much we have been kept in the dark. This is one of our biggest challenges, she shows, but also our greatest source of hope. Once we are given the full picture, how can we not act? And if a schoolchild's strike could ignite a global protest, what could we do collectively if we tried?
We are alive at the most decisive time in the history of humanity. Together, we can do the seemingly impossible. But it has to be us, and it has to be now.

Does that book cover carbon mining and cloud seeding? If not, she'll have to endure major scolding from down under.
New record high temperatures may be opening some eyes, so that might be a good discussion.

Re: WANTED: NON-FICTION suggestions for our next group discussion!
I thoroughly disagree with Ms Thunberg on many points, but careful study of her book would provide opportunity to help explain why. One essay to which I took particular exception argues that geoengineering must be banned because it is just a continuation of the same domineering thinking that got us into the climate predicament. This is an absurd piece of logic, but happily many of the other essays in the book are more empirically based.
