I just finished my debut novel, and I'd love for you to check it out! I have a little about it here, as well as a bonus chapter at the bottom. I hope you enjoy it!

---

So, you’ve died. Or perhaps you haven’t yet, but you’re realizing that it tends to happen to a tremendous number of us, and you’d like to know what you’re getting into. Fortunately, if all goes well you’ll be heading upstairs to the divine realm, and from everything we’ve heard, it’s quite a lovely place to be. So, what’s up there, exactly? What does eternal paradise look like?

Take a journey through heaven, exploring all the many places in the promised land after a life well lived. From comfort to catharsis, from laughter to learning, from reunion to recreation, 100 Places You’ll Find in Heaven will tell you everything you need to know about the divine kingdom. It’s not all harps and fluffy clouds. Instead, it’s full of countless “resorts” - wondrous and wonderful destinations that make up heaven’s splendour, all occupied by the “Ascended.” (Calling people ‘dead’ just doesn’t sound right in heaven.)

Reunite with your fluffiest friends at Pets of the Past. Start your morning off at the most enchanting coffee shop in creation at Caffeine Supreme. Control the elements at the Amphitheatre of Storms. Travel through a magical, whimsical land of entrancing beauty at the Perpetual Purple Paradise. Or, rip down the speedway in whatever vehicle you wish at the Downhill Derby.

No one said heaven had to be boring.

Here's one of the 100 you'll find in the book!

Imagination Station

It’s a good thing you can’t feel fear in heaven, because the first few moments in the Imagination Station could be perhaps a little jarring. Ascended port into a single, endless, empty void, with no semblance of space or distance. The loudest things are their own thoughts. They stand, or sit, or just be, right in the middle - if you can call it a middle - as there is nothing to raise them up further nor any gravity to drop them down. On top of it all, most go alone.

Okay, to be clear. Yes, this is heaven, and no, there wasn’t some accidental switcheroo with a place on the, shall we say, hotter side of the celestial plane. Just bear with me.

After a few moments, the Ascended become acclimated, and the strange sensation of weightlessness and emptiness passes. That’s when the real magic begins.

Inevitably, the Ascended start to move around. When they do, they find that splashes of colour appear in the multidimensional plane around them. Some bring the shapes and colours into being by waving their arms, splattering reds and blues around them as if they dipped their hands into some endless, intangible bucket of paint. They’ll flick their fingers, sprinkling little dots like stars across the empty, ethereal canvas. They’ll pinch their fingers together, spread their hands out wide, and create space to paint upon further, even just to give a focal point on which to centre themselves.

After a few hours, Ascended realize just how easy it is to navigate the void. They’ll glide, turn, or spin any which way they please, all by simply willing themselves to do so. They’ll begin to make their tremendous pieces of art, recreations, or really anything they please. They’ll float, creating as they go, adding pieces, details, colours, shapes. They’ll make marvellous places, crafting full worlds, the pictures being as specific or as vague as desired, seeing as all they have to do is imagine more detail and suddenly it appears in front of them.

Once the images are there, they’re free to add whatever they wish. Perhaps there’s movement, the picture being something that can suddenly come alive, move on a loop, or be ever changing, coming down to whatever the Ascended wish it to be. If there’s sound to be added, well, it works rather predictably the same way.

From there, you can just… create. Anything. Anywhere. With no limitations. Some just use it as an easier form of painting, and place a giant canvas in front of themselves and make beautiful portraits. Others make full scenes of quiet waterfalls or bustling towns. The more ambitious make galaxies, with hidden secrets and places to explore.

Speaking of which, the final piece is perhaps the most fun. Sometimes, the Ascended open their pieces up to anyone who wishes to see them, or perhaps more accurately, travel through. They’re free to move from void to void, witnessing the most wild, creative, and expansive places in existence, lands that defy all laws of physics and stagger the mind at the mere sight of them. As they say at Imagination Station, it’s as good as you can imagine.
