Because that's the default. We need to call this finding "Supernatural" until a natural explanation can be found.

It's a great discovery, if you read the article.
"Finding such a crack in the Standard Model is exciting because it suggests a potential path toward expanding the model beyond those particles currently known."

That goes without saying.
But prior to this, physics was PHYSICS and was thought be Law as evidenced by the standard model.
This is above our understanding of natural law and "reality" if this is not a misreading of the data.
How does this impact the quest for the Holly Grail of Physics?
Yes I know: you have faith that there will be a natural explanation to save your knowitallness about reality and existence. But this is quite the supernatural discovery, for the moment.
I know that word is immoral to you.

You seem to have concocted a strawman where physicists were saying the Standard Model was the final word.ant wrote:[

Now try to find a single quote anywhere, from anyone, at any time, for that position.

Oh common now.
Us science enthusiasts know the deeper we drill into nature the faster our prior knowledgr goes out the window.
But there's a naturalistic reason why the standard model needs to be scrapped.
Until we find out why, ill say the particle smasher dunnit.

This too. Where did you pull it from?Us science enthusiasts know the deeper we drill into nature the faster our prior knowledgr goes out the window.
As opposed to a supernaturalistic reason? Enlighten us.But there's a naturalistic reason why the standard model needs to be scrapped.

The reason is above our understanding of the standard model of physics within a natural framework.
SUPRA!
Upsetting, I know.

So every time there is a conflict with a paradigm in science it is "supernatural" until further notice?ant wrote:The reason is above our understanding of the standard model of physics within a natural framework.

Upsetting, I know.
Is this your own formulation, or have you seen anyone else who thinks about science this way?
I suppose it's possible you are an innovative philosopher of science. But... probably not.
