I felt that this chapter was boring and that it was useless to bring the daughter along because she is uninterested in the Vietnam War and, in my opinion, is a waste to learn about in great detail. I wish that the author would drop the story about Kiowa and move onto something else since he spent the last five chapters discussing it.

Really? Well, in my opinion, one of the greatest things a parent can do is take their children out into the world to learn about its places, people and events and to help them work out who they are, even if they appear disinterested. Whether or not this makes an interesting or useful chapter in O'Brien's book is another question.
