National Poetry Month Challenge
Michelle Martin of
Tell Me More (NPR) has a contest running to celebrate National Poetry Month and I think we ought to give it a try right here on BookTalk. The contest is to write a poem with 140 characters. Any Tweeters out there? Right you are, the
Tell Me More contest is a Tweeted contest. I don't know if spaces count as a character, but here on BT they do not. So, give it your best shot. If you'd like to enter the
Tell Me More contest follow the link for directions. At the end of April we will have a vote on all the poems that get posted. Maybe Chris will send our winner a free book. Good luck!

That link goes to an external site and I found no rules or instructions...

Yes, that link does go to an outside site, as I stated in my post (see quoted text) it goes to NPR's
Tell Me More. The point of posting the link was in case anyone wanted to enter the
Tell Me More contest also -- since I did steal the idea from the show. Our rules here at BT are just that the poem be 140 characters. Here are the rules for
Tell Me More:
Send us a tweet and help us celebrate poetry. Go to Twitter and tweet us your original poetry. If your poem is chosen, we will help you record it. Then, throughout April, we will air those poems. Sweet, right? So Tweet us using #TMMPoetry.

Cannot swat or squeeze
Squoosh or tease
Need a gentle hand
To command
The stink bug
Buzz zoopt flit
All that is illuminated
You’re my foe
But you do move slow
Oh,
stink bug?

I enjoyed the first half of the stink bug poem immensely. The second half, I didn't understand or connect with. If there was anything beyond a stink bug it was lost on me. Saffrons poem is obviously rated R and I couldn't finish reading it because I've decided to give porno a rest for a while. Maybe later I'll allow myself to finish reading it.

I've finished reading your poem Saff, and I have to say I'm in a much better mood.
