David Hogg and his 1260 SAT score was recently admitted to Harvard.

This is not a joke, people.

First Ocasio Cortez and now this.

What on earth is Harvard doing lowering the bar this much?

This is the left's continued strategy to weaponize stupidity in their favor.

It's interesting how certain figures can become pariahs for . . . no reason at all. In what universe is Hogg's acceptance at Harvard worthy of any attention at all, let alone this kind of derision? In other words, who cares?

I didn't know Hogg-bashing was a thing until I Googled his name right now. Apparently some Fox News personality mocked him for being rejected by a few different colleges. Normally it would be shocking that any decent human being would actually stoop this low. But then again this is a Fox News host. And this is today's right.

It's absurd Harvard accepts children that fall well below their minimum SAT requirements simply because the child happens to be a poster boy for the left.

SAT scores are only one factor in determining college admissions. A 4.2 GPA helps, as does his nationwide involvement in the movement for reforming of gun control. This kid is making a difference — he's exactly the type of student Harvard recruits. I think calling him stupid is, well...

As Litiwou points out, Harvard doesn't use SAT scores solely as criteria for accepting students. So without knowing all the facts, you are simply repeating the FoxNews narrative about the stupidity of the Left. Maybe Harvard 's admissions process is biased and/or otherwise flawed, but without knowing or discussing the reasons why Harvard accepted Hogg, I'm not sure there's much to discuss. Right or wrong, Harvard may have accepted Hogg as much for his celebrity status as his political beliefs. We just don't know. Unless Harvard has issued a statement?

We know that bars are routinely lowered at some of our universities to accept talented athletes as well. The process is not always meritorious.

The Ivies are known for accepting "legacies" as well, unqualified sons and daughters of prominent and wealthy alumni. But it's of no more social concern than this David Hogg affair should be.

Never heard that but I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. I don't understand what's remarkable about Hogg's admission. He's been traveling the country talking about gun control and the whole world knows Harvard is a liberal institution. They gotta love this kid.

Of course there's something to discuss here. And I'm well aware of Harvard's selection criteria. A quick google prior to my post informed me appropriately.

Given that approx 43% of the student body is white, and 75% of the faculty and professors are white, Hogg's very sympathetic selection was that much easier (guess what? he's white).
One might have thought Harvard could have granted his spot to a DACA Dreamer that actually had the qualifying SAT scores.

Hogg's initial story of his fight for survival during the shootings has been questioned. The tragedy the school faced was real.. His initial claims, probably not as real as his claims.
Also, some of what this child is on record saying is ignorant and enormously idealistic. But he's the very type of over-simplification the leftists of today are comfortable with.

SAT scores are good indicators of college success. Hogg's score was about 200 points below Harvard's minimum requirement - TWO HUNDRED.

College is supposed to teach you how to think for your self, not what to think.
Harvard is blatant about being sympathetic to where their very emotional sympathies lie as it relates to social issues.

Leftist continue to support mascots that can't even get the arguments clear because of their very black and white complexity lacking worlds.

SAT scores actually have a modest predictive power regarding college success (and just what is college success, anyway). Hogg's 1260 is respectable, indicating sufficient literacy and math ability to navigate Harvard. The university liked his entire package, apparently, and unless we know a lot more about Hogg's high school career we are judging his admission from a lack of information and assuming that all he had going for himself was his prominence after the Parkland massacre.
