QAnon

Wanted to start a thread to keep up with updates to this crazy conspiracy community. It's hard to follow, with cryptic posts spread over multiple forums, not easy to get an overall picture. Don't need every last detail, but how is it evolving, what is the QAnon community focusing on now?

Here are a couple of introductory explainers.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/what-is-q ... -explained

A few places to research:
https://qanon.app
https://qmap.pub
https://www.reddit.com/r/greatawakening/
https://8ch.net/qresearch/welcome.html

BTW, I use the VPN built into the Opera browser or Tor when looking at this stuff, don't want my system associated with these sites in any way...

Here's one overall story, pretty scary. Can't tell when it was produced, but it claims Hillary has already been arrested, there will be military tribunals during 2017, and perhaps as many as 50,000 trials in 2019. Note the use of triple parenthesis as in (((them))) or (((their))). The alt-right uses that symbol to denote Jewish influence. :slap:

It's just my personal thing, but I'm gonna use the deprive-it-of-oxygen approach on this one and hope this movement expires.

Well I agree, I'm not advocating engaging with them, just checking out what the lunatic fringe is up to. I expect QAnon will implode soon when all the bizarre stuff they're expecting does not happen. Wait, no, their story will evolve to some other universe of weirdness and the previous universe will be forgotten.

Because that's what usually happens when wingnuts make lunatic forecasts about the future, and then the forecasts don't come true.

Okay, now we are talking about reality. (Did I really just write that?) I mean, these people don't even have scriptural references putting limits on their claims. For that matter, they may be fakes, without even genuine paranoid beliefs to put limits on their claims.

BookTalkers are aware of falsifiability, the concept that if a theory or hypothesis cannot be proven wrong, then there is something suspicious about that theory and it may be completely unscientific. (Testability is another way to look at this.)

So I'm curious about the falsifiability of the QAnon conspiracy theories. What would it take, what event or non-event would be required before most believers would reject the QAnon phenomenon?
  • They speak about 45,000 sealed indictments and the likelihood of 50,000 military tribunals during 2019. So what if it is say June of 2020 and there are zero indictments revealed and zero military tribunals? Would that weaken their resolve? If not, would they soldier on until...say...I dunno ...October of 2022?
  • What if a group of basement-dwelling dorks go public and state, "Hey, here we are - we faked the whole Q thing from the beginning, and here's the electronic proof! Get over it people!" Would that be enough?
  • Let's say again that it's June of 2020 and Trump is battling serious impeachment proceedings, many of his partners are in jail, and there are zero charges against Obama, Clinton, and other targets of the QAnon conspiracy. Would QAnon still believe the forces of justice are moving in the direction Q predicted?
  • What if Q predicted something completely delusional such as Trump being impeached, convicted, and removed from office prior to election day 2020? Would QAnon true believers turn on Q?
"A statement is called falsifiable if it is possible to conceive of an observation or an argument which negates the statement in question."

The QAnon phenomenon is falsifiable as I've listed potential outcomes that "should" negate that conspiracy. However, what is relevant is what would QAnon believers require for that negation to happen, can they even imagine such a thing? I've considered starting a thread on a QAnon board to find out what would be required for falsification, but I don't really want to engage plus I doubt I would receive anything other than attacks let alone any serious responses. :hmm:

Q has posted nothing since Manafort was found guilty, Cohen, Pecker, and Weisselberg flipped, and the doorman mentioned an illegitimate child. Periods of silence are not unusual for Q, but it could be entertaining to see how he weaves these events into support for his goofballish conspiracy theories. Actually all Q needs to do is drop a snarled tangle of yarn and his followers knit the support blanket. :tease:

OMG, just saw Jim Jeffries interview four QAnon enthusiasts - this is even worse that I thought... :cry_baby:

Suicide weekend?

Impossible?
Coincidence?
We are in control.
BIG week ahead.
Q
Just to give you an example, here's what Q posted this morning after the events I listed above. As expected that tangle doesn't add up to much, but I'm sure the QAnon weavers will make a nice sweater or maybe a baby blanket out of it. If I find some entertaining analysis I may post it here...

On edit: Nevermind, the QAnon analysis of the above clues from Q is way too insane or idiotic to repeat here. Gotta stop looking at that garbage.
