Boy asks pope if atheist father is in heaven

God this video had be crying quickly. I was that little boy 44 years ago. My mom died of cancer when I was 5 years old and I vividly remember the pain and fear and endless questions I had. Was she in heaven and would I ever see her again? I want to hug this little boy in the video. I'm so glad the Pope handled it the way he did even if his answer isn't true. It comforted this grieving child and he will probably always remember the Pope's words.

Despite 6 years of parochial grammar school and 2 years of Catholic high school, I like this pope. I agree that his answer isn't true. If I believed it to be true I wouldn't be an atheist.

The Pope is obviously in a bad spot. He can't admit to the boy that his dad's in Hell because his God is a thug.

This was a meme on Facebook, and it tends to get a lot of Likes and such because it's such a reasonable thing to say, but shocking, too, that the Pope would say something so inclusive, so secular, and so compatible with modern modes of thought. The only problem is that Pope Francis never said it. And, indeed, if the Pope did say it, it would be harmful to the Catholic Church because then why would anyone need the Church at all?
