Onions is a Young Adult novel focused on Charles Wesley Onions, a 12-year old misfit who's now on his 16th foster home in 2 years. Onions has just arrived in Lozen, AZ. Despondent, he snatches the purse of 80-year old retired circus performer Sandrine Fuller. Instead of turning him in, Fuller enlists Onions in her battle against a corrupt City Hall. In the process, Onions learns the importance of having a life-goal, the necessity of reading and loving books, and most important, how to play the trumpet. After many fascinating experiences, including building and flying an ultralight with Fuller, Onions experiences a tragic incident that tests his mettle. He finally rises above this tragedy and reaches a height he never dreamed he could reach.
