“It really does prove once and for all Jesus's socialist nature,” said biblical scholar Abe Martin. “We knew Jesus wanted people to provide for the needy, but we had yet to have any evidence of his using violence or the threat of violence to accomplish that.”

When The Onion started, its fake news was still distinguishable from real news, so The Onion worked as satire. Now, fake news purveyors have proliferated, they intend for their "news" to be accepted as true, and anyone who still follows the lead of The Onion, like this babylonbee.com, stands a greater chance of having people believe what they're reading. Entertaining, perhaps, but not helpful.

Nothing in your post or on that site indicates this is a satire article and website. In a world inundated with fake news and ignorant consumers sites like that are dangerous. I do see where you have posted this in the Arts, Entertainment & Fun Stuff forum so I guess by that placement you've got plausible deniability going your way.

Well now I have clicked on the About Us link and read, "The Babylon Bee is the world’s best satire site, totally inerrant in all its truth claims. We write satire about Christian stuff, political stuff, and everyday life." These satirical articles are really convincing and in my opinion not helping at all with the huge problem of an uneducated and gullible general population. I'd feel differently if they used a slogan at the top of the page that clearly stated the satirical nature of the site.

Oh wow... my bad..

I thought it was close to common knowledge the B-Bee was total satire!

They post some hilarious stuff that's all in fun, of course.
It's good sometimes to just laugh at some of these topics.

Well.. lighten up just a bit here :P

Here's another example of their satire.
If someone can't tell it's strictly satire then that's on them:

I read a few articles and laughed. I just think they should be more clear that they're a satire site. I swear I see people posting stuff like this on Facebook and they clearly believe it's all true.

A google search finds this:
The Babylon Bee is Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire.

Yes, I did the search and read that they are satire and then I scrolled to the bottom of the actual page and clicked on the "About Us" link and read it there too.

Still... plenty of people lack the critical thinking skills and education to be figure this stuff out and the end result is they believe anything and everything they read as long as it meshes with what they already believe. (Confirmation bias) I wouldn't care so much but these people have the same right as you and me to vote. One idiot's vote can effectively cancel out the vote of someone who actually thinks critically.

I have one particular person in my life that regularly posts articles that are clearly fake and I simply respond with a Snopes link. She doesn't learn nor does she care to learn. The fake/satire articles are saying what she wants to hear so she's satisfied. Truth isn't as important as validation.

I'm enjoying the Babylon Bee, but gotta admit this one could have caught me - Bakker and many other pastors have said similar things.
Jim Bakker: 'Many On The Last Day Will Cry Out, 'Lord, Lord!' But He Will Reply, 'Depart From Me, You Didn't Vote For Trump'' :appl:

Also tasty:
New Study Confirms The Bible Supports Your Political Views Entirely :adore: Bias confirmation does not exist within the Word of God.

I saw a video interview that explained some of this. A reporter was outside a Trump rally asking questions of his supporters when a woman stated some bizarre conspiracy theory. The reporter replied with "You do realize that has been thoroughly debunked by X, Y, and Q." And she responded with "Yes, but you see this is MY opinion!" and stopped to flash a HUGE smile. It dawned on me that the sheer pleasure of considering certain opinions makes them impenetrable. They enjoy thinking about an opinion and if it doubles up by angering the opposition, so much the better to make it like granite.
