Jen Spyra clearly bases this story on the 1982 animated movie The Snowman (based on the book by Raymond Briggs) about a young boy and a snowman brought to life. One scene evokes this delightful song Walking in the Air.

However, the tone of the story changes dramatically, as if the boy and the snowman travel from rural Vermont at Christmas to the seedy big city...

I must admit I've always liked the song Walking in the Air. Here is Aled Jones in a duet with himself: originally sung by him has a young boy in the movie paired later with himself as a grown man.

Given all that, I don't think I've watched the entire Snowman movie since the kids were little, perhaps I'll so so again, and read the book soon.

Oh Lordy, here is Aled Jones singing an exquisite version of the traditional song Pie Jesu, interpreted by Andrew Llyod Webber, from his classical work Requiem.
