I love this book

Freethinkers is similar in many ways to Battle for God, but my reaction to it is totally different. I found myself fighting anti-godder feelings while reading Armstrong, including developing a distaste for Armstrong herself. As I discussed in another post I'm not comfortable with the "hating" part of myself, and was a little concerned that Freethinkers would reinforce that negative.Instead, I've found the book uplifting through and through. Along with the inevitable destructive scum I'm learning about many different times and reasons that the religious have made common cause with us (to me, "us" is atheists). I'm feeling more hopeful than before that someday we can "all just get along". If you make yourself really small, you can externalize virtually everything. Daniel Dennett, 1984
