FICTION BOOK POLL
Please participate if you love fiction!

Let's pick a good fiction book that we can read and discuss together as a group in the upcoming month or two. I've found a web page that has dozens of FREE fiction books so let's stick with only the books we can read for free from this site.

Literature Project is a collection of free classic books, poems, speeches, and plays. For each piece of literature, we offer a free online eBook that can be easily read and searched. In addition, each online book includes links to a downloadable eBook version. We also offer Text-to-Speech software that can be downloaded from our site.

Please visit the above site and post here the titles of any books you would enjoy reading and discussing. If you'd participate in ANY book discussion we have please say so.

And most importantly check back and participate in this thread so we can work together as a team to find a good book for discussion.

Do not just make a post saying "Pride and Prejudice sounds good." Also state that you will participate in discussing the book if you will.

Look through the suggestions other people make and share your thoughts on their suggestions.

I do think we should avoid books that are too long, known as difficult reads or overly academic.

This is for a FICTION book so please look through the available titles and make sure your suggestion is FICTION.

Thank you!

Some H.G. Wells sounds perfect.

Am okay with H.G. Wells. Would like to discuss "All the Light We Cannot See" just because Doerr blew me away with his short story. But it did win prizes.

Ooooh, I would also love to read All the Light We Cannot See, but I cannot find a free version.

There won't be a free legal version of that book since it isn't in the public domain.

I vote for The Time Machine over WotW. But I can go either way.

Well, lets do a public domain book. I have never read either Wells classic, and promise to participate.

They have Beowulf, which can be fun, but it's not the Seamus Heaney translation.

http://www.gutenberg.org/ I believe this site offers a larger selection of free e books

If there are some who really don't want to discuss Wells, I might suggest (or for a future selection) the Wilkie Collins book "The Queen of Hearts" (I enjoyed "The Moonstone") or Fitzgerald's "This Side of Paradise." Both on the (first) list.
