On This Day in the Wars of the Roses is my new non-fiction book.

On this Day in The Wars of The Roses

The 'On this Day' format provided scope to cover all bases. The big names and pivotal events are all there, but I could also include things that are vital to understanding the period, that rarely features in a book about the conflict.

War isn't just about battles, commanders and politics. It is about ordinary people and the way in which their lives were affected by campaigning too. With 366 entries, I can introduce the reader to a range of examples of this. Some are quite quirky, others are seemingly simple but have a wider social and economic significance.

So, if you are fascinated by Richard III, love theorising about the fate of the Princes in the Tower, have a 'thing' about the Tudors, or love medieval history there'll be something in here for you. Battles, Sieges, Politics: they're all critical in a war. So too are the social and economic changes and day to day living. So, the book includes things on as diverse a range as alchemy, piracy, coronations, wool and the rather brutal manner in which traitors were dealt with at the time.

This is the first in a series of 'On This Day' title, the next one being linked to this: The Hundred Years War. Further work will also be done on the Wars of the Roses, in book form and via my website and social media.
