The Way it Was by Malachy Donoghue

Unread post

"The Way it Was" by Malachy Donoghue is a riveting and remarkable life story of an Irish immigrant looking for an adventure and trying to find his place in this world. Malachy Donoghue was born in Roscommon, Ireland, in 1927. After a life shattering experience at the age of 11, Malachy's world was forever changed and his childhood was abruptly ripped out from under him. Malachy became a man at 11 and life would never be the same again. In his early twenties, Malachy moved to New York looking for a better life and new adventures. He quickly learned that New York's weather was not for him and he decided to move to San Diego. Once he realized that that was a mistake, on a whim, he jumped on a plane to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he lived for 7 years working in the goldfields. He became pen pals with a young woman back in New York, and this woman eventually became Mal's wife. Malachy moved back to New York where he got married, had 3 children and lived for the next 50 plus years. After Malachy passed away, his son published "The Way it Was" on amazon and it has been getting a great deal of international media attention. It has been, and is currently on, the best seller list for Irish biographies and best travel Europe books list.
