Post subject:  Nothingness - quote

“And because there is something they can’t see people think it has to be special, because people always think there is something special about what they can’t see, like the dark side of the moon, or the other side of a black hole, or in the dark when they wake up at night and they’re scared.”

This is perhaps my absolute favorite passage from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time because I'm absolutely fascinated by this interpretation of the human psyche and the way it addresses the idea of nothingness.

Mostly, I relate it back to the idea that people feel more comfortable being afraid and feeling convinced there is a reason for it than to be scared for nothing.

I was wondering what other people had to say about this quote or what you thought it conveyed to you personally or in relation to Christopher's character.
