We read and discussed this book back in 2003 and then had a live chat session with Ann Druyan. We've decided to pull this discussion out of the BookTalk.org Archives and give the book a second reading/discussion and chat with Ann Druyan. Ann has agreed to another live chat too.
Below you can read the older posts. Just look at the dates on each post to see if they are from the original discussion or the current discussion. Many of the members from 2003 are still members now so don't be shy about responding to their posts.

I've bought it and have begun reading it. I really hope to see some good discussions/debates come from this book!

I am definitely reading it. I have a few more chapters on "Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee," and then I'll be all over it. Carl Sagan is my only real idol in life (other than you of course!)...so this month will be awesome.

Re: Who is reading this book?
I read it about a year and a half ago, and it's lying around here somewhere in my piles of books. Once I find it I plan to reread it, so it's fresh in my mind as we discuss it.

Re: Who is reading this book?
Yay! I only made it to chapter 7 in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. I love the book but I know I won't have time to finish it and get through Demon Haunted World. So I'm putting Wounded Knee on hold. I'll finish it another time. I'm in chapter 3 of Demon Haunted World.
Carl Sagan is my only real idol in life (other than you of course!)...so this month will be awesome. LOL. I really like Sagan too. I loved Pale Blue Dot (that was the first "real" book I had ever read). He's very easy to read.

I'll be finishing "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" over the next week or two, but have already started reading "Demon Haunted World." I just finished reading the preface and then Chapter 1, "The Most Precious Thing."I already have so much I want to discuss in this new book, but will refrain till I have covered a few more chapters.
Keep in mind we will do a "Scheduled Chat" for "Demon Haunted World" in the first week of September...while we are already started on reading the September "Book of the Month." For those that are new here at BookTalk, the scheduled chat is where we all gather at a specified date and time in the BookTalk chat room , which is linked to at the bottom of this and every BookTalk page, and discuss the "Book of the Month." It's a fun way of getting to know each other and having some stimulating conversations about the books we are enjoying.

Re: Who is reading this book?
I've started it also, I'm on chapter 4 I think. Carl Sagan is such an amazing writer, and I am really looking forward to chatting about this book with all of you.
Re: Who is reading this book?
I'll be starting The Demon Haunted World tonight (4 Aug 02). I read the book once before, several years ago, so I'll probably plow through it pretty fast on a second reading. This is a book that I'd really like Lauren to read, so I hope I can get her off the fiction kick for a little while.
What I'm really looking forward to is the discussion that The Demon Haunted World will create. The book is so intelligent and wide-ranging it can literally start debates on a score of subjects

Re: Who is reading this book?
Wow, I've been completely immersed in this book the past couple days. I'm in chapter 12 and I'm going to go upstairs and read some more tonight. I'll probably have it finished in a few days. I've been highlighting and making notes of portions I specifically want to remember. There's some great stuff in this book. Lauren, I hope you're reading it. I'm looking forward to some discussions here.

Hey Naddia, do you wanna post a thread about this book on CDS? Or I can do it if you think it's appropriate. At least two of the posters are employed in the sciences, sequencing DNA or something like that...
