Lawrence Krauss discussion with Richard Dawkins - Complete

Part of my reason for posting this link is to remind me to watch the balance of the video. I've been watching YouTube videos for the past few hours and am falling asleep now. But this discussion is worth seeing.

So far I'm listening to two like-minded men talking about a caricature of "Intelligent design" proponents.
And there's a lot of self congratulatory moments mixed in.

Would I mark this so far as an intelligent discussion?
Absolutely not. Unless of course I want to be convinced of something I already believe and want a little more help keeping my strawman erect.

Ken K said, almost in the same breath, the following:

"as scientist, if we continue to alienate religious people, we won't be able to reach out to them"

"parents who raise their children religiously, and I've compared that to being the same as child abuse..,"


What is not alienating about Kaus's comparing a religious home life to child abuse?
Do you think the millions of americans who exercise their religious autonomy and rear their children within a religious environment and have successfully raised honest, altruistic, loving, and responsible citizens that participate in the public square would appreciate Kraus's forked tongue?

Kraus is not being intellectually honest here.

Are you willing to defend what he claimed?

I had no problem listening to the full discussion. I would also recommend it to other BT members.

In the first ten to fifteen minutes alone we hear:

-insightful comments as to why science should be studied for its own sake.

-why Darwin and not Einstein is the greatest scientist of the last few hundred years.

-Krauss giving the clearest and most succinct explanation of the slit experiment in quantum mechanics I have ever heard

-the use and misuse of the two definitions of theory; the ‘it’s only a theory’ as in a good guess or a hypothesis and the scientific use of the term as a solid body of knowledge taken to be factual.

I intend to watch it a second time.
