Who would like to lead the Lord Jim discussion?

I would consider it, but I don't feel qualified. I have been a member here less than six months, and haven't figured out all the 'bells and whistles' yet.

"Bells and whistles?" I don't know how many I know about, either. But if some people want to read this book, I'll read it along with them. As Pinker says, it's a big book, so the chances of our getting all through it are slim. I've thought for a while that having a leader of the discussion is much less important than simply having a core group that mostly sticks with the book. So that's what I'd offer, an "I'm in." But it takes two (at least) to fox trot.

I think for a fox trot you'd better stick to two, but you are on the mark for book discussion around here. If you can get 3 or 4 people to hang in there you might just get to the end of the book. I'd jump in, but I've just committed to read James Joyce's Ulysses. Wish me luck! Maybe I'll just watch from the sidelines.

I liked The Heart of Darkness and I'd like to read more Conrad and, hey, the price is right, so I'll give Lord Jim a try ... I'm not concerned about having a discussion leader either, we can just wander along and see where we get too .... a warning though ... I'm a little shaky at fox trot!

I think I've read the book twice, the first time in sophomore college English, the second a number of years later by choice. I found it difficult as a college student, but it was easier the second time. I can't remember many details from novels, unfortunately. My impression overall of the book is that it bears some relation to my current signature line I guess I'll see if I'm close.

Cattleman, I'd love you to be discussion leader. This is one book I have. Also have Ulysses. Hmm. Not sure if i want to ever re-read that
