I finished Cormac McCarthy's The Road a couple of weeks ago. Just started a book of Nebula Award winners from 2003 (sci-fi). I have mixed feelings about awards books, but the winning pieces in this series tend to be very good.

I read some Raymond Chandler stories while I was putting together this new page:

I was going to add some of Chandler's short stories but the novels are enough. The project reminded me that I've never read The Long Goodbye, Chandler's last Philip Marlowe novel. Some say it's the best of the lot, so that would make it very good indeed. I'll have to look for a copy.

Just finished Alistair Cooke's 'American Journey'. An illuminating piece of work.

I've gone crazy with Audible recently.

Now I'm "reading" The Happiness Hypothesis ~ Jonathan Haidt.
Pretty darn good, but horrible narration! :x

I do the same with audible. I wear headphones while doing any manual labor. Building treeforts, cutting grass, shoveling snow, chopping wood, cleaning.

I'm currently reading book 10 of the Horus Heresy in paperback, Throne of Glass on audible.

I've just finished Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Why I didn't read it when I was a child? Anyway now I know what my children will read if they behave naughtily.

_neon, how would Charlie and the Chocolate Factory work as a punishment? I loved the book.

New PDFs of three novels. I re-read parts of all three as I worked on the project. Loved those books years ago, still do. I put together a new PDF of The Moon and Sixpence as well, on that page under Maugham.

I'm currently reading a collection of poetry by Charles Bukowski - You Get Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense.
