What do you like to read on holidays like a scary book for Halloween and a Christmas children's book? I love reading short scary books @ Halloween   :|

I usually go with horror books around Halloween. Last October I read the movie tie-in novelizations for the first 3 Halloween movies. I have 3 more ready for this Halloween, Ghostbusters 1 and 2 (not horror but Halloween type reading) and Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight. Halloween is generally the only holiday I change my reading habits for but last Christmas I read a book called "Nothing Lasts Forever" by Roderick Thorp. It's the book that Die Hard was based on and also takes place at Christmas.

These days I don't read anything special. When I was a child, one radio program (remember, this was pre-television) we never missed at Christmas was Dickens's "A Christmas Carol." There was a saying at our house, "Christmas isn't Christmas without Scrooge." Don't remember reading anything special at Halloween.

For those in America (or those just wanting a funny story) Stephen King's short story "Drunken Fireworks" would make for good Fourth Of July reading. It's about a fireworks "arms race" between two families who live across from each other on a lake and try to outdo each other every July 4th.

I read the same stuff on holidays as other days. Religious stuff, horror stories, Skeptic magazine, etc.

Ray Bradbury's "The Halloween Tree" is a pretty quick/fun read.

Yeah I love Bradbury, "The Martian Chronicles" is one of my favorite books. "Something Wicked This Way Comes" would also be pretty good Halloween reading.

Now I'm reading what the kids are reading. With the beginning of the quarantine, our library really expanded, because the kids were home all the time. I ordered all the books from here https://www.top-mom.com/best-books-for-toddlers/, I am reading with my youngest son very quickly. He likes the big pictures and the fact that the books are about animals.
