My most read subject in history as well as non-fiction in general has been about the early days of manned spaceflight, particularly the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo programs. Lots of good biographies about individual astronauts as well as more general books about various missions/programs.

Any pre-Christian ancient Middle Eastern culture. Well, Middle Eastern and European. Prior to 1 AD.
