Hey guys, I recently started a new YouTube channel where I read books for kids.

https://www.youtube.com/StorybookNanny

I am looking for suggestions from all you book aficionados on what would be the best childrens books to read on my channel. I'm hoping for timeless classics that are perenially popular and would love your ideas.

Thanks so much everyone!

Always loved Robert McCloskey's books, especially Make Way for Ducklings and Burt Dow Deep Water Man. Also love Rabbit Hill by Robert Lawson.

If you are talking about really young kids, anything by Dr. Suess.

I use to read Dr. Suess when I was younger. My favorite was "Green Eggs and Ham" I also write children's books. I currently have one published so far. "Skye's High Fly'n Adventures: How Skye Gets His Name" I hope this helps you.

Hi,

Yes, Dr. Seuss is it! And Green Eggs & Ham, seems to be a hit no matter who I read it to. I'll have to go look at your Youtube channel. Great idea. I'll think about what more might be hits for you. Question--are you looking at reading for all cultures? (This as I live in asia.)

Hello, Pamie Kay,
I would be interested in reading books for different cultures, it depends on the type of book it is. I don't read exotic type books. As long as the book is clean without sexual and exotic language in it.

When I was very small, The Very Hungry Caterpillar was one of my favorites. Then when I got older, I read The Twelve Dancing Princesses over and over again. Something about the gorgeous illustrations and the magical story enchanted me every time!

If you're also looking for books for kids a bit older than Dr. Seuss age I'd make the following suggestions...

James and the Giant Peach
by Roald Dahl

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
by Roald Dahl

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
by Frank Baum
