Storytelling integrity

Hi, I'm looking forward to being involved with some of the debate here.
I am very passion about respecting storytelling and all that it offers to our learning and cultures. I believe that an exposure to storytelling as a child, through books, film and personal interaction also, was the single most important aspect of my upbringing in terms of developing my interests and intellect. I am always thinking about what makes a story timeless or universal, which are the qualities that most writers would like to achieve, as well as being conscious that, in a changing world, our relationship with storytelling might be in flux.
As a reader I'm particularly inspired by myth and folklore, though I'm on a bit of a mission to understand the modern world a bit better too (we could do with a bit more of that).
