Hello Y'all!

To be honest, I am not that good with introductions. I have always felt uncomfortable with them. That being said, if it seems like I am rambling, that's why! haha

I am Bekah and I'm 25 years old. I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then moved to the middle of nowhere when I was a sophomore in High School. Then I moved back down south as soon as I could for college, but my parents requested I move back home to help them out with some things and I agreed. So a city girl is back in the country with massive wolf spiders. (I know I know... they are harmless. but have you seen how fast they move???!!!!)

I love to read, watch netflix (usually criminal shows), hike, long drives, and crafts. I do make my own makeup when I can.

I do enjoy reading books about other worlds. I loved the Study series by Maria V Snyder. Really anything that can take me out of my wold into theirs that can make me laugh will do. I prefer books that are well written and not straight copies of books that have made it big, just different scenarios. That really bugs me. I tend to remember every book I have read even if I don't remember what the title is or who wrote the book. I don't have favorites because I feel that cuts off a world of opportunities to see and learn something new. I tend to read books that are more serious in nature yet have moments of true clarity that allows you to laugh. Or I guess to find someone I identify with and see how they traversed through life and hardships. If they can get me to laugh, I will enjoy it so much better. I read books over and over and over if i love them. If I found something that draws me to it. Although there are a handful of books (that I can count on one hand) that I was so impacted by that I will never read them again. I want to preserve them in my mind. The first lessons where so real to me that if I were to read it again, it would mess up my first impressions.

Sorry, I am rambling. I will end this post by saying, I look forward to talking with you all and getting to know you. Hopefully we can learn from one another and gain world experiences.

Hello there chika323m or should I say beckah? Anyhow, :welcome: It is always good to greet a new biblipphile to Book Talk, especially a young one. :) Yes, as young one, as I am about 50 years older than you. Seriously, I watch too man kids and teenagers go around with their eyes glued to their phones, and wonder what they are finding so fascinating? :hmm:  I am not averse to technology; these days most of my reading is done via my tablet computer (eyesight does deteriorate with age, and the ability to increase the font size is great)). But I still visit my local library, and am active in its support group.

From your descrition, it sounds as if you like science fiction and fantasy. If so, who are some of your favorite writers?

Again, :welcome: to Book Talk.

Cattleman, I do love fantasy. Some science fiction, but mostly fantasy. I dont really read books based on who wrote them. Weird, I know. Because I am like that, I dont really remember authors names as well as I wish I did. I did love Piers Anthony and his world of Xanth. Ann McCaffery is a great one as well. I didn't really like her as well because it was hard to jump into the worlds she created. Of course with my age you would expect J K Rowling and Stephany Meyers. But I also enjoy C S Lewis and J R R Tolkien. I am currently in the land created by C. N. Crawford (The initials are for the Husband/wife team that write these books).

So pretty much, if I can jump into the world and can understand what is going on and the stories are well written, I will most likely enjoy it.

If you have not already read them, check out the Spellsinger series by Alan Dean Foster. It is definitely fantasy, mostly with a somewhat humorous touch.
