New young adult author seeking long term career in writing

Unread post

I realise that it is not always clear what tone someone can mean to invoke when all there is is silent text (although isn't is a writer's job to clearly convey emotion?), but rest assured that just by simply reading this post you have earned my great thanks.

Greetings, my name is Dominic Hodgson, I am 18 years old, male, from a village in Northamptonshire, England, and am probably the biggest geek I know (except for my cousin with Tolkien). Okay, that's that out of the way...what else? Well, basically everything I do is at least in some way linked to my favourite activity of writing (or TV on the side...or occasionally my apparently futile love life), and with so much of my time dedicated to prose or scripts (the rules said don't talk about books, does this count? And I'm using way too many parentheses, aren't I) I don't get round to reading much, which is sad but necessary in my opinion. When I do read, it tends to be, but is not restricted to, science fiction, fantasy, light crime/mystery or scientific/historical non-fiction. I have been known to get around this issue of lack of time to read by listening to a fair number of audiobooks.

How did I find BookTalk.org? Well, while looking for places to get reviews for something I'm not allowed to talk about, I came across a website that gave helpful suggestions as to where I might find some assistance. One hyperlink later I was here. Quick and simple.

While I may not have too much time to spare, I am more than happy to interact with anyone who so wishes to get in touch when I can, happy to discuss books, writing, popular culture, a job if anyone's offering one. Just not much else regarding reality. I'm much more comfortable when fictions are involved in some way, or at least aspirations.

Okay, I think that's it for now as a first post. I'm off to explore what else this site has to offer. Live long and prosper.
