Most people think that we did indeed evolve from primates when the facts show that humans are cousins of chimps. I just wanted to dispel any wrong beliefs on the matter. What's your angle?

Humans are primates. You need to do a lot more research.

I am agnostic/evolutionist. I've done the research thoroughly. We come from a kind of primate still undefined, if you will, but not from the chimp necessarily. Misunderstood. (Maybe I am NOT phrasing my words right, maybe.)

Not phrasing it right indeed. No one claims humans evolved directly from chimpanzees. OK, just be more careful...

Welcome, crios. I don’t think being an agnostic or atheist or theist has anything to do with our scientific understanding of evolution. Humans share a common ancestor with other primates. This is an accepted fact just as it is an accepted fact that the earth is round. There are those who believe the earth is flat and that humans did not evolve from a common ancestor, but the earth remains round and evolution remains Real.

And to take it further, humans and chimps are so closely related that they can be affected by the same diseases: AIDS and hepatitis. Humans and chimps are actually more closely related than chimps and gorillas.
