I just viewed the first video. It looks like a great class, particularly because Kurt Gödel's incompleteness theorem and its philosophical implications will be discussed. I've always wanted to understand it as best as a layman can.
Once a theorem is proved, the mathematics are supposed to provide mathematical certainty.
The incompleteness theorem indicates otherwise.
It’s a consequence of a theorem that its very hard to determine whether an axiom system is consistent.
There is always a risk that the basic principles are inconsistent.
In an inconsistent system you can prove anything.
How does this impact our modeling of nature?
