Hi, I'm new here. Hope this is the right group.
I read a book in the 90s and cannot remember the title or author.
It's about a man who can always tell if someone is lying. He is broken out of an asylum or prison (can't recall) by a nurse (?) to help prevent an assassination of the president.
A key phrase is; "an unstoppable force meets an immovable object".
Does anyone know this book?

Re: Help finding a book
If you could remember character names or even the author's name... That'd be a great help.Saurus wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:55 am Hi, I'm new here. Hope this is the right group.

Thanks for the help so far - it would be much easier if I could remember a name of a character but unfortunatly not - it was in the 90s that I read it.
Alos, it's not a Baldacci - I've checked through all of his books.

Re: Help finding a book
Longshot, but given the length of time since reading and the fact you may have a slightly inaccurate recollection of the story, could it be The Dead Zone by Stephen King?

Re: Help finding a book
The book you're referring to sounds like "The Man Who Used the Universe" by Alan Dean Foster. In this science fiction novel, the protagonist, Kees vaan Loo-Macklin, is known for his remarkable ability to understand and manipulate people, which might be why you remember the aspect of knowing when someone is lying.Saurus wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:55 am Hi, I'm new here.
