Is comedic fiction dead?

Unread post

My latest book, Nothing Sacred, was just published. It is a rib-tickling comedy about an atheist who interviews god - " Shades of Douglas Adams."
Is this genre dead in this day and age? Is humour beyond our grasp? Perhaps it does not provide enough escapism during these terrible times.
I'd love to hear your comments about why so few writers venture into this genre anymore.
