I was going to say you can't make this stuff up. But actually that's what this is. It's make believe.
The Vatican announced today that Pope John Paul II is going to be canonized (after approval by a committee). Apparently for a pope to be canonized, he must have two miracles under his belt. John Paul II's first miracle came about after he died. French nun Marie Simon-Pierre said she was cured of Parkinson's Disease after praying for the intervention of the late pope little more than a month after he died.
"The Vatican has not revealed details about the second miracle in John Paul II's case."
An interesting fact, "John Paul II reformed the sainthood process in 1983, making it faster, simpler, and cheaper. The office of "Devil's advocate" - an official whose job was to try to knock down the case for sainthood - was eliminated, and the required number of miracles was dropped."

Do you have any idea, what the total number of canonized saints is?
“Her blood is settled, and her joints are stiff;
Life and these lips have long been separated:
Death lies on her like an untimely frost
Upon the sweetest flower of all the field.”

Hmm..
Isn't praying to the pope putting him before god?
So... she was cured of parkinsons by the pope's ghost... but now she goes to hell?
No wait... "Anyone breaking these commandments will be called least in heaven." So she still gets to go, but she gets the cheap seat.

Are you pushing your own short comings on us and safely hating them from a distance?
Is this the virtue of faith? To never change your mind: especially when you should?
Young Earth Creationists take offense at the idea that we have a common heritage with other animals. Why is being the descendant of a mud golem any better?

Hadn't thought of that. So Christianity, a supposedly monotheistic religion has the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost plus the Virgin Mary, and even popes can perform miracles even after they're dead.johnson1010 wrote:Hmm..

Interestingly enough, Sister Marie Simon-Pierre Normand who was supposedly cured of Parkinson's Disease eventually became sick again. Some doctors have suggested she was misdiagnosed and may have had some other disorder known to occasionally go into relapse. But that seems a farfetched explanation. Much more likely that she was healed by the dead pope.
