On the third day of stories, Boccaccio has developed a real obsession with sex. And the story about how the king shaved the head of the man who seduced the king’s wife to single him out, but the newly-made-bald guy then proceeded to shave all of his comrades’ heads too so that he wouldn’t be nearly as unique as the king intended, reminds me of a World War II incident. When the Nazis occupied Denmark, they ordered all the Jews to wear Star of David armbands. On the day this order was to take effect, King Christian X wore a Star of David armband as well, and all the rest of the citizens followed suit immediately.

There are a ton of stories about love and sex so far. The males seem to tell the raunchier ones but the females tell stories that have a lot of sex in them as well. I'm thinking with all the lack of entertainment available it still wouldn't be an excuse to write such a book. This book wasn't banned when it was released. I guess people during this time, in this part of the world, were lustful people. Nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. It's not porno... nowhere near it. In fact, I have a picture on my desktop of a scene from a movie based on the Decameron which features 2 naked nuns but it's done in very good artistic taste. The girls are a work of art! I'd post the picture here but Chris would ban me for sure. I've already received like 5 last warnings.

Please make a mental note of this post, PC. You're very good at getting book discussions started and keeping them going. If you ever see enough interest in a book discussion such as this one please send me a message. I will add it as an official book discussion, which means I'll advertise it on our home page and our BOOKS page. This could pull in more participants, whether they be new members or current members.

As a general rule when you have 5 or more people expressing an interest in discussing a book with you we will make it an official book discussion. A new forum can and will be created and the book discussion will get advertised properly.

I just skimmed this thread and see more people planning to join. President Camacho, will you be the Book Discussion Leader for this?

And how about we have the discussion for December and January? I know you guys have been making posts, but it seems several people still need to get a copy of the book. Maybe Dec. and Jan. would be ideal.

You would have a brand new forum dedicated just for this book. You can create threads for each book if you like.

I know this thread has inspired me to get the book. I think it would be great to see this discussion continue.

I'm going to lock this thread so that this discussion branches off and fully utilizes this new forum. If I don't lock it the discussion will keep building in just this one thread and newcomers will have less incentive to join.
