The 2012 Pulitzer Prize Winners

Unread post

Two of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize Winners worth taking a look at are Life on Mars by Tracy K. Smith (I saw her at the 2008 Dodge Poetry Fest) for Poetry and the Non-Fiction prize winner Stephen Greenblatt's The Swerve: How the World Became Modern

"Life on Mars," by Tracy K. Smith (Graywolf Press), a collection of bold, skillful poems, taking readers into the universe and moving them to an authentic mix of joy and pain.

"The Swerve: How the World Became Modern," by Stephen Greenblatt (W.W. Norton and Company), a provocative book arguing that an obscure work of philosophy, discovered nearly 600 years ago, changed the course of history by anticipating the science and sensibilities of today.

I've got too many books on my "To Read" list again :?

Has anyone out there read any of this year's winners (espeically these two)?

Notice there's no award for fiction this year. :o

It turns out this isn't that unusual. TThe three committee members just couldn't agree.

The three finalists nominated:
David Foster Wallace's The Pale King
Karen Russell's Swamplandia
Denis Johnson's novella Train Dreams

Last year Jennifer Egan's book, A Visit From The Goon Squad was selected.

Yes, I did know that; I'd heard a report on NPR. They interviewed one of the jurors.
