Re: New series of podcasts

Good point. I mention the deeply disturbing, and dangerous need, some have, for an apocalypse in Episode Eight. I seem to remember reading that the Iranian President Ahmadinejad, was a believer in this rubbish. Just as well Iran didn't have the bomb at that time.

Re: New series of podcasts

The second episode is live now.

This one is about evolution and argues that we know evolution happened with the same level of certainty as, for example, we know that heavy things fall downwards.

Re: Both science and religion are wrong

"There was no space to be expanded into." See, that doesn't make sense to me. It simply cannot be true. The only remotely reasonable statement that's ever made about the universe is that it is an infinite, mostly-empty space . If there was no space to begin with, then nothing existed, not...

Re: Contrarians are not critical thinkers

In the UK we don't have Fox News or other extreme TV outlets, although the British print media is heavily right leaning. The BBC is state owned and under its charter it has to be impartial so it always has to present both sides of any argument, and this kind of model tends to be followed by the othe...

Re: Did Trump really do all this good stuff?

From my perspective, here across the "Pond" It is hard to see anything worthwhile that Trump did. Even though it would be hard for anyone to work for four years and get everything wrong. Trump is a complete narcissist, he did everything he could to promote himself. He went to North Korea f...

The Evolution of the Sensitive Soul by Eva Jablonka and Simona Ginsburg

This book discusses the evolutionary origins of consciousness. A subject I needed to understand because of a series of podcasts I'm working on. It must be one of the most challenging books I've ever read, it seems to assume a considerable level of knowledge of psychology, of which I am somewhat lack...

Re: Both science and religion are wrong

PeterDF: Hence then, by definition, the supernatural cannot exist. DWill: Good point! If we were to discover some factual information about "God," then this god would become part of the known, natural world and cease to be a supernatural entity. I get what you're saying, but I'm not so su...
