Re: Lost Memory of Skin, Prt. 2, chapters; 1-4

The professor is extraordinarily smart, and I think he feels a bit above other people. He does not think anything of trying to manage Kid's life so he can have him as the subject of his research. He is able to blend in with other people as he did with the two Vets at Benbows, but as nice as he seems...

Re: Lost Memory of Skin, Prt. 1, chapters; 8-10

I think Kid is intelligent. He just does not make the best decisions. He let his mouth cause him to lose the job he loved. He let his sexual urges ruin his whole life. He now finds himself totally alone, after Iggy was killed, and with no place to go. We get a glimpse of Kis' offense when he questio...

Re: Lost Memory of Skin, Prt. 1, chapters; 5-7

I think the professor sees Kid as an object, instead of a person. He looks at him as if he were a bug under glass. The professor appears to care what happens to Kid, but I think it is for his own selfish reasons.

Re: Lost Memory of Skin, Prt. 1, chapters; 5-7

At this point in the book, I feel Kid is not a pervert. I feel that whatever he did was not so bad. I feel sorry for him because he had such a rough life. In these chapters he is faced with his world being turned upside down. He lost his home and any stability he had obtained. He has seemed to accep...

Re: Lost Memory of Skin, Prt. 1, chapters; 1-4

Spoiler Alert I think the nickname Kid is used to represent his innocence. Although he was convicted of a sex offense he still seems like a young boy who may have done something a little bad, but not too bad in the past. I like the way the author shows us he is a sex offender without coming out and ...

Re: The House of the Spirits; The Three Marias

In this chapter, Estaban shows a contradictory nature. He is a man of rage and selfishness, but he gives the peasants a better life. He builds a school, granary, etc. He may have done it all for selfish reasons, to make his hacienda the best, he needed to have healthy workers. It may have been that ...

Re: The House of the Spirits; Rosa the Beautiful

In this chapter Rosa was almost a mystical being. Her great beauty was unworldly and her green hair and golden eyes made her a such a rarity. She was called a mermaid several times making her appear all the more magical. Speaking of magical, Clara was a clairvoyant who had powers even she did not un...

Re: Part III: Our Lady, Voices

I felt sorry for Juliet. How alone she must have felt to have the compulsion to join her father in the falls. She was saved in more ways than one when Bud pulled her out of the falls. She ended up in a good place.

Re: Part III: Pilgrims, Hostages

I think he finally sees her as she really is. That she is selfish in clinging to her twisted principles instead of doing what is right for the family. He sees her as the pathetic person she is. Sitting in her self made prison. He does not understand why she hates his father so much that she would no...

Re: Part III: Pilgrims, Hostages

I think that the sight of Dirk's body rushing down the river is such a visual that seemed so sad. It was worse than just never finding a body. Chandler seems to be missing a part of himself. He needs these crisis to enhance what he calls his small life. This hostage situation was a turning point for...
