Re: The House of the Spirits; Rosa the Beautiful
Hi guys :) So finally decided to join the discussion as well. The book did draw me in since I opened it, I could tell it will be a good read right away! The changes in the perspective of narration don't bother me since they seem synchronize somehow and not as detached as in some other books. I am ve...

Re: My poem: Is anyone listening, does anyone care?
Welcome to the Community, Quest for the Ark :) I read the poem very carefully and I must say that this part was the most powerful in my opnion: "i must stop and wonder if you'll ever understand, that life is a reward ... ... ... and not a demand." It did strike a cord with me. Sure, there ...

Re: Who would like to be discussion leader for "The House of the Spirits"?
We do not want to do anything more to scare people away from suggesting books and participating in book discussions. I'm sorry, I was under the impression that being the discussion leader was an honor and a distinction within the group, not something that would deter people from posting suggestions...

Re: Poll for November/December fiction discussion
I'm happy to get the ball rolling, so excited about my FIRST voting :D And I hereby give 2 votes to The Street of Crocodiles since I wanna have an excuse to finally read something in my native language. I would also like to graciously give 1 vote to The House of the Spirits since I've already manage...

Hi Matthew :) Sorry it took me so long to get back with a feedback on your blog. It might sound odd but I think it's got both class, which is as awesome thing. Very readable. I started browsing from your Ishiguro reviews and since Japanese literature used to be my thing I highly recommend Yasunari f...

Re: Suggestions needed for November/December fiction discussion
Hi Suzanne :) As I've mentioned in my previous post I haven't read them just yet. To be honest they are considered as w whole set and usually published in one volume. The theme, place of action, style and even the narrator's name are the same in both short stories collections. If we have to choose j...
