UNINVITED BOOKS

I recently did an interview with Literary Mayhem , mostly about the goals and directions for Uninvited Books. If you're not familiar with it, it's an interesting site, worth checking out. “The kids I grew up with were sneaking drinks and shooting up pretty much through their teens. Me too, but I was...

Exactly. It has to be excellent or I can't even begin to enjoy it. High standards are a curse!

Re: Huckleberry Finn/ Last chapter and final thoughts

It's not a candidate for the greatest American novel, from an artistic standpoint, in my opinion. But it still could be the most important. A perfect summation. Thank you. Re: To Kill a Mockingbird

Well, they are in fact foul-mouthed aggressive bullies! Thanks, that was great. Totally cracked me up. I've always been extremely fond of mockingbirds, but, yes, they are total brats. Is anyone familiar with the Harper Lee's bio? Fascinating woman. But such tragedy! All those years she spent workin...

Re: Any published authors?

I have a website and would like to offer an author to be a guest blogger or to be the focus of one of our featured posts. Looks like we've got a lot of talent here. Cool. That always makes things stimulating. Could you tell us something about your site? Maybe post a link so we can visit it? In the ...

Re: The Yellow Wallpaper

Such an amazing story. (Kind of Kate Chopin meets M. R. James.) I actually got to use it in an anthology I edited recently, pairing it with Oliver Onions' THE BECKONING FAIR ONE, which has always struck me as the other side of the coin. What's the quote from Jung? Something about "unconscious c...

I get that. I admired the book more than I actually enjoyed it.

THE GARGOYLE

I'm currently deeply ensnared by Andrew Davidson's strange, intense novel THE GARGOYLE. I don't know that I've ever quite read anything like it before ... which is not something I say lightly.
