Some of the motifs that I've noticed are compassion, selfishness, darkness, confusion, and suppression. It all goes to show that human beings are capable of being virtuous and compassionate but are easily sidetracked towards greed and corruption; it is easier to do bad things than good. -KatherineC....

As I learn about Kurtz more and more, the two contrasting elements i found are hollowness and completeness. hey its katherine from 1st period.
From what I've read it seems like Marlow is getting closer to meeting Kurtz
I was a bit put of by the words he used such as " savages and niggers"
