A great phactory philosopher once told me that opinions do matter. They are like anuses, which also matter. Every one has one and they usually stink.
I agree with with Penelope the cutesy phrases could be left out with little loss.

Penelope, Do post those pictures. Dunkirk is one of the world events that led to my birth in a curious chain of: Dunkirk demonstrates the need for a large landing craft to Winston Churchill...Winston Churchill asks Roosevelt and the US Navy for help...the US Navy designs the LST and figures out that...

Re: Predestination or Freewill
There was an article a number of years ago in one of the science journals, about the random firing of neurons in response to a predator. The experiment involved tapping into the brain (possibly to strong of a term) of a flying cricket and exposing the cricket to the ultrasonic bleats of a bat. At ea...

Re: Predestination or Freewill
I am a fan of freewill, but realize for the most part that it does not operate in our lives and perhaps fortunately so. Would you want to drive down an Interstate where all the other drivers were under the influence of absolute free will? Should we deny one free spirit the right to wind up his Ferra...

Re: Who do you write like?
Pretty cool! However the lightening response in which it provides an answer is a bit troublesome. I would think that my wonderful, complex, thought invoking, and beautifully crafted prose would take even the fastest super computer a bit of time to analyze and identify. Ha! Who I write like shall rem...

Re: "The End of Men"
I read the article several weeks ago, and my memory is not something to envy. I think she may have overstated some things and yes the article is overblown hoopla, but I believe that the general direction of the article is true, the magnitude of that truth I would question. I work in a manufacturing ...

Re: eReaders?
Book Wrm I have a Kindle and love it. E-readers are becoming an emotional subject these days, so it is going to be hard to get straight facts, if something like that even exists. But I will give a very short and hopefully not too terribly biased opinions. There are two things to consider right off t...

Re: Community
There are the religions of God and there is the religion of no god. Both are very certain of their truths and both can be quite arrogant about it. I find doubt to be a wonderful companion. The louder some one screams their truth in my ear, the more doubt for that truth seeps into my being. Seek your...

Re: Care of the Soul by Thomas moore
Read it years ago. There are some treasures to be found, but I didn't find Moore to be the most lively author, and at times he got deeper into Greek mythology than I cared to go. That said, Moore is a very intelligent and extremely well read individual and he does have some wonderful insights. I jus...

Re: Community
I found the religious discussions here to be a bit tedious--no not a bit, but extremely damned tedious on both side of the fence. There seems to be little free thinking and a whole of lot of "this is how it is adapt or go to hell". It strikes me a little bit like masturbation, when concept...
