Re: Reading for pleasure! What are you reading now?
I'm slowly reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I'm enjoying it so far.

Re: Radical Honesty: Wanna Try It?
As a terribly blunt person, I've learned it is good to know when to keep your mouth shut. Honesty can be good, but most people don't want to hear it, even when they say they do. In my husband's family, a lot goes unsaid. Needless to say, I bite my tongue a lot. But in my own family, I'm very honest ...

Re: What is your favourite TV-show?
Most of my faves are gone now: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek TNG-Enterprise-Voyager, X-Files. Yes I like my sci-fi. I also quite like Lost, Fringe, FlashForward, and V. Guilty pleasures are House and The Mentalist, because I love Hugh Laurie and think Simon Baker is great. I used to en...

Re: Were We Told the Truth about Jonestown?
Interesting article. It sounds incredibly paranoid though. I agree that there's probably a lot about Jonestown we don't know, but I think this author might be seeing connections that aren't necessarily there. Like you said, this can neither be proven nor debunked. Thanks for the interesting read. Cu...

Re: Three Cups of Tea
I know he's for real. It just seems terribly exaggerated. A lot of his story probably can't be confirmed. I'm sure he's done a lot of good, I'm just questioning some of it. If it is all true, he's way too damn lucky! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: What Books Do You Dislike?
I think that some writers make a name for themselves, and then tend to be treated with reverence, even though some of what they later produce can be mediocre. I agree. Stephen King fell into that as well. Dean Koontz had a couple of good books, but most of it was the same thing with different title...

Re: What Books Do You Dislike?
I always thought I was alone in thinking The Catcher in the Rye overrated.
I've been trying to read this book called Three Cups of Tea but it just seems too unbelievable.
Another one that people look at me aghast is The Old Man and the Sea. Soooo boring! I tried.

Re: Books and Movies
I am refusing to see The Time Traveler's Wife, because I don't want it ruined for me. I loved it too much. The majority of the Harry Potter movies are mediocre in my opinion, with the exception of Prisoner of Azkaban. That was beautiful. I love the books. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackso...

I think Feed Me Seymour is a lot more fun to sing, although I've only sung along with the soundtrack.lottebeertje wrote:Mark Cool wrote:

Re: Three Cups of Tea
I've gotten about halfway through this book, and it all seems a little fantastical to me. I'm having a very difficult time believing it. He seems just a little too lucky to me. Needless to say, I'm having a really tough time finishing a non-fiction book that reads a little too much like fiction.
