Re: Working Class
A thread of statements of belief that are then generalized to everyone, or a majority, with absolutely no evidence. For example: "But we all know that morals and ethics are a luxury!" No, Camacho, we don't all know that. You believe that because it reflects your belief system. It's the sam...

Re: Views on novels with female protagonists?
I believe men and women are different on a very basic level. Their motivations are quite different. I question when a man can write a story with a woman as the protagonist and get the motivation believable.

Re: What's the use of stories that aren't even true?
When my children were young and I was teaching them to read I explained that there was often more truth in fiction than in non-fiction. I gave them examples of politicians lying with "facts". I haven't changed my mind.

Re: What is your favorite fiction genre?
Mystery/Detective. Just guessing I would say that genre represents 75% of my reading. Lawrence Block, Dashiell Hammett are always on my list to be read. I also tend to prefer older novels.

Oaxaca
My name is Patrick Kelly. In the U.S., I lived in Colorado and moved to Oaxaca, Mexico, twelve years ago. The only thing I really miss from the U.S. is the book group. I'm hoping to replicate the experience on line.

Greetings from Oaxaca
Twelve years ago I moved from Colorado to Oaxaca, Mexico. Obviously, there is no Borders or Barnes and Nobles where I can spend a lovely morning browsing books and have the awesome selection those types of stores offer. Re: Literature vs. Film: relinquishing imagination?
I enjoy films, especially old films, and I'm addicted to reading. I enjoy both. I remember one film, "Being There" that I thought was better than the book. I think "Moby Dick" with Gregory Peck is a great film and the book is a great book. "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre&q...

Re: Would you buy and live in a house that was the scene of a horrific murder?
Of course, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. I was visiting a friend in the hopsital and after ascertaining he was doing well I said, "Have you wondered how many people have died in this bed?" "Not until now,you SOB."
