The Heart Knows What It Wants

It's been a trying couple of months. Illness and a death in the family. The usual daily stress...today, well actually we first met yesterday. A young AmStaff girl. For those of you who don't know I am a bully breed advocate. Granted they aren't for everyone. Strong, sometimes bull-headed, but also t...

Looking for a Mentor in Writing a Biography

Basically I want to write a biography. It's a band from the early seventies. No other books have been written about them. Three of the founding members passed on more than twenty years ago. But while looking around to get my bearings I find that as of 2013 they're still performing and recording with...

This book is devastating. I read it in two days, one of those books you can't put down but can hardly bear to read in parts. But an excellent meaningful story. The narrator is thirteen and sold to a brothel in India. If you pick it up try to stay with it. You'll remember this book for a long time.

Re: How long do you usually read in one sitting?

I can read for hours and hours but I also usually read more than one book at a time. So a few chapters of this and a few chapters of that with a magazine for dessert perhaps. I can scan ten books or more in an afternoon at the bookshop...does anyone remember Johnny Five in "Short Circuit"?...

"I'm Down" by Mishna Wolff. I picked it up by chance the other day and I'm hooked. For anyone who grew up a nerd in any neighborhood...you'll identify. Mishna finds herself growing up Wonder Bread white in an urban neighborhood. You'll laugh even through the cringe-worthy moments as she le...
