Scene fodder. (Snippets)

Unread post

I occasionally think about writing shorts or books. (At one time I had seven 3" three ring binders full of short stories I'd written.) But usually I just get a idea and play with it. I will post some of thing here, free for the hardworking author to use as they wish.

Set either on an alien planet or on the front lines of resistance to an invasion of Earth:

I sat in my sentinel tower and watched the line of alien forest move slowly toward me. The towers stretched from horizon to horizon guarding against an invasion of monsters from Columbia. The world's military had joined forces in Panama to stop the infestation from the south. I had nearly dozed off when I heard screams from down the line.

"They're eating me!!!!!"

I wondered if whoever was owed me money.

Just out of curiosity, why haven't you finished any of your stories?

I wrote while I was on the Mekong and later in Sicily. When I got to Puerto Rico I had the binders on my desk in the barracks. I came back from work one day and they were gone. My first fan.

Since then I've been writing for the USN, USMC and US Army. They allow me a nom de plume.
