Relations bw African and European nations in the 21st cent.

Unread post

XV- There has been a lot of talk in France about the fiasco of French charity Zoe's Ark's attempt to take 103 children from Chad to France a few months ago.

This caused a lot of anger in Chad and other African countries.
A lot of the anger was genuine, and some was stirred up by President Idriss Deby for his own political ends.

As a result of the action of a few misguided fools/ impulsive, well meaning would-be rescuers, there is now even more distrust of France than before in Africa.
Added to the long list of evils perpretrated by a former colonial power is now the stigma of stealing children.

Worst of all is the fate of those children, who suffered from the incompetence of their rescuers , the indifference of their president and the confusion caused by the political situation; many of them are not yet back to their villages.
