Does anyone want to read a fairy tale?

This is a great site for Grimms Fairy Tales. If you enjoy the tale above, please post another one.

I'm so glad this room was created. Barnes and Noble just published a special collection of Grimms' Fairy Tales for ONLY $20, and I bought it because I want my son and my students to experience the brilliance of these works. There is so much that could be said!!!

I owe the Brothers Grimm a great debt of gratitude for stimulating my interest in reading before I even started school. After reading several of their stories, I went on to scour our local library for any other fairy tales I could find, eventually devouring everything they had by Hans Christian Anderson, Charles Perrault, Charles Dodgson, and, later, Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss). From there, I graduated to SF and Fantasy, and finally into mainstream fiction. Had it not been for the incredible creativity and imagination of these authors, I may never have become the lover of literature I am today.

Does anyone remember when PBS used to show Brothers' Grimm stories on Saturday afternoons? How grim and gothic they were, but how LOVELY!

I'll take "The Fisherman and His Wife." Love that one, where the fisherman pulls up a magic fish that grants a wish to the poor man, temporarily overjoying his wife. But there's the rub...she thinks about their good fortune and wants more and more. A classic upping-the-ante story.

Do you guys realize they are debuting a television show called Grimm next week? I saw the preview on Hulu, and it's an interesting spinoff.

True, and on a deeper level I think it asks the question, What is happiness? Is it getting everything you want? Apparently not as it would only make you ask for more.
