Right now the score it:

Dreams of My Father - 11
The University in Chains - 4
The Case Against Homework - 3

It is looking good so far for Dreams of My Father despite the lack of voters.

3 votes for 'Dreams From My Father.'

I have this book but haven't read it yet. It would be great to discuss it with other members.

Is it rude to vote for a book but then not participate when one you don't want to read is selected?

Grim, you can always start your own thread and ask people to read it with you. I've done that twice with Ophelia and Tulip when the books we've wanted to read weren't chosen.

I've never read a book Tulip has suggested, though. He's from Australia and raises chickens - even though everyone knows there aren't any chickens in Australia. He calls them chooks. I think that guy is a little nuts.

Others may think I have more dubious attributes than keeping chooks. Thinking that Christianity is potentially rational for one. Liking Leonard Cohen for two.

No, Grim, it is understandable. Obviously, it is in BookTalk's best interest if as many people as possible read and discuss our official discussions, but it makes sense that people aren't going to want to participate every time when their choice in books didn't win.

Just as long as it isn't unethical or unfair to those who want to discuss the book, because I will read it if I am in some way obligated. I just have interests currently beyond that particular title. What are the regulations regarding nominating the same book twice in consecutive months?
