Though it should be said, I’d happily read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. But it doesn’t seem we have the interest for a book discussion.

If, as Robert suggested earlier, a second book for discussion is still on the table, I think this would be an excellent choice - easy to read, but deep and relevant ideas in today's world.

I can create a forum for both books if you guys want both discussions to run concurrently. We're 11 days into April but there are no hard and fast rules with this stuff. We can do both book discussions starting tonight, after I create the two forums, and run them through April, May and June. Anyone like this idea?

Much as I love the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, I think it is best to just have one book starting at a time.
I have started reading Divided We Fall by David French. I find it an extremely interesting and measured analysis of US politics and suggest it would be best to start as Booktalk selection now.

How about we start with Divided We Fall and think about Marcus Aurelius for a bit later? Regardless, Chris should go ahead and set up Divided We Fall. I'm liking this book so far.Robert Tulip wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 5:27 pm Much as I love the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, I think it is best to just have one book starting at a time.

I'm OK with Divided We Fall now and Meditations a little later, perhaps May 1 or June 1 depending on how the 1st discussion goes. It's possible having two very different books active will help, not divide as folks uninterested in one choice might be excited by another. They way we run it now, they have to sit it out for 3 months 'til the next selection.

That sounds like a workable solution.LanDroid wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:33 am I'm OK with Divided We Fall now and Meditations a little later, perhaps May 1 or June 1 depending on how the 1st discussion goes. I'll create the Meditations forum soon. The start date will be May 1, 2022, but having the forum up early will motivate people to buy their book and start reading.

I'll create that Meditations forum in about a week. As Robert said we don't want to have both books starting at the same time and we didn't start Divided We Fall until only a few days ago. So my plan is to have Meditations up around Monday the 25th. Sound good?
