1984
I'm sure this pretty old hat on this forum...I'm reading this for a second time since high school, and overall it's very suspenseful and entertaining. It really does highlight what it's like to live in fear. Overall the society is surrealistic and cant really exist (even though many of the elements still do...), but realism doesn't matter much to me overall.

It’s good to revisit well read books. There’s been several books mentioned on BookTalk I had familiarity with yet went back to because someone started a discussion on them.
I read a comment the other day, I think it was on Reddit, where the commentator liked to imagine that Orwell wanted to test the waters, so to speak, to see if anyone might use his book as a blueprint. I took it with a laugh and grain of salt, but it’s a twist on an old saying.

Haha, so much internet banter i just silly or worse, i've read a lot of it. Orwell was a former military personnel or cop for Britain, so i'm guessing he was trying to apply his knowledge having done that and being understandably afraid of socialist dictatorships.
